So does anyone in here consider himself/herself an expert in The Legend of Zelda?

Or, do you know anything about those old emulation games where all it was was a line of text, and you had to type in your commands, without any graphics or other sort of game play?

Thanks loads.

One of my kids handed in a paper that says Zelda was one of those text-based RPGs before it was an actual video game. I can't find anything online to support this. U know anything about it?

That's actually part of the problem. They weren't even supposed to have info like that, just opinion and personal experience. But that's not even the real issue; his mother obviously wrote the paper. I just can't believe she just was making shit up.

Anything specific you're looking for? I used to play Zork back in the day...

Negative... The Legend of Zelda was _NEVER_ a text based game (or even Pen/paper/Dice) before it was a video game. The very first Zelda game was on the NES. There were some off-brand zelda games: the game-watch ones and the CD-I ones, the latter of which were absolutely horrible. Look up Zelda and the Wand of Gamilon (I believe) on YouTube, some people have posted up footage of that horrible horrible game.

There have been some text-input graphical adventure games made by fans for Legend of Zelda however. Most of which were in Japan, but a few done in Europe and the Americas.

I also used to play a good variety of both graphical and text-based RPG's back on my good ol' Commodore 64k and then later on old 8088 IBM PC.

Hahaha.
Yes, I am the lurker of LJ. Hear me tiptoe quietly through the blogosphere and make phantom posts on your journal.

SOunds to me that he got "Zelda" and "Zork" mixed up. Zork was a very popular text based game (that had I think 3 text based games for the Apple II, before becoming graphical later on.)

Zelda was never text based. The first game was for the original NES back in 1986 in Japan.
